2 Youth Workshops, 1 Professional Development & 1 Open Mic...niiiiice!
Currently I sit in Philadelphia. Last night we got to see some of its historic cobblestone roads prior to hitting up the open mic we attended. "Spit Fire" was held at a beautiful & classy Caribbean Restaurant/Lounge. There we met the amazing "Vision" member of the Spoken Soul 215 collective. He's a powerful poet that works with youth and will have some of them (including himself) featured on the show "Brave New Voices". Make sure you check him out in the upcoming episode.
Prior to making our way to Philly we spent some time in Wilmington, Delaware. While we facilitated 2 energy filled youth workshops with many of the young leaders of tomorrow from Bayard Middle School. Even late in the afternoon while they were tired & hungry we were able to get 2 sets of youth to jump around, laugh, and write about their past, present & future selves.
We also had a blast facilitating a professional development workshop with the staff of the Wilmington Boys and Girls Club (also the organization that sponsored us over at Bayard Middle School). For almost 3hrs we discussed ways of reaching youth through music, assisting youth in positive expression, how to educate youth on the importance of history & how important the staff is in their youths lives.
Fun, education and music. Que niiiice!

Weekend!!! Good times!!! Good People!!! See pics below. Do it nooowww!
Friday night we took over 92Y Tribeca and packed it up with beautiful people ready and willing to bop and stomp to the sounds. From Aztec dancers, to a live band, and a hilarious host to both hardcore and smooth Hip Hop. We even had DJ Oja playing the old school tunes for the bodies to rock. The familia of Noisemaker media stopped by and presented a few of their videos. Of course they played the "Be DiF'Rent" Video! Derr. The crowd was loving, wild, empowered and entertained.
You couldn't make it??? Oohh. Ok. If you are one of the people that missed it...it's oookaaa. Cause on Sunday we filmed the video for "A Tree Grows in a Place Called Home". That's right!!! Son! Soon you'll be able to come out for the Video Release Party of that track! Oh booooyyyyy. I'm excited already. Fly video, cool & beautiful people, GUARANTEED dance time. You juuuust waaaiiiit foooorrr iiiit! Caaaaaannnn yoooouuuuu diiiiiig iiiiiiiiit???!

Video Premiere Sooooon!
That's how I feel about the past few weeks. We've been traveling throughout all Boroughs of NYC to promote the upcoming "Be DiF'Rent Video Premiere Party".
There will be dancing, there will be DJ's, there will be performances and much more. Go to the following link http://www.92y.org/shop/92Tri_event_detail.asp?category=92Tri+92YTribeca+Music888&productid=T-MM5PT11 and get your tickets today!
Recently we were in BK for a Fighting for Futures performance. This event was by RSVP only and put on by Felicia Cruz in a lovely BROOKLYN, NY artist space. We also performed at an event at Laguardia College in Queens NY called Crossing the Blvd.
This one was brought to the community by an amazing human being named Judith Sloan. She works with immigrant youth by teaching them acting in an effort to express their stories. While there we also got to see a scene from Lemon Anderson's "County of Kings" if you have not seen it go see it now! Well not now but you know what I mean.
We also attended events and reconnected with Talib Kweli, YC the Cynic, Hasan Salaam, Akir, Mahina Movement, Mums, Aurora and more. We had a blast connecting and re-connecting with all of these amazing artists and encourage you to look them up and check out one of their performances.
See you at the Premiere Party!!!
