In Studio w Bombasta, Some Texas FOOD, & Che's Garden!

HERE WE GO AGAIN!

Greetings,

San Antonio has officially been selected as our second home... away from home.  From the community, to the Garden, the Food, the conversations, the laughs, the performances, the studio recording, and the culture... MAAANNN I can't even begin to express my love for this city!  The first night we performed at "Tost" which holds a weekly open mic with local artists. While there we met up with our good friend "Vocab."  The very next day we had our performance with Bombasta and La Guerrilla at Boneshakers. That one ended with Bombasta rockin' the house and us dancing throughout the whole night.

During the weekend we actually had some spare time to walk around the city. We got to really take in San Antonio. In the afternoon Decora and myself were ripping up on the 1's & 2's at Che's Garden over on Commerce. This garden was filled with Graffitti Artists tagging their office building, and THEN there was a BIG Arts Festival happening at night called the "Luminati." There was food vendors, art exhibits, and plenty of performances, (including a live orchestra)...Crazy!  Our next set of performances were at Salute & The Pedicab... which were BANANAS!!! We rocked with Rebel Diaz at both spots and along with local MC's & DJ's. Today, we're heading to Austin, TX for SXSW.

We'll be performing at Monkey Wrench TOMORROW!!!

The journey continues... Stay tuned!

More From Texas!!!

Texas!!!

"We've been in Texas for two days and we've already facilitated 5 workshops... WOW!  Just yesterday, we were at Nimitz High School facilitating two workshops with students. These ended with laughs, cheers & the making of new friends. Afterwards, we led a professional development session with the faculty. During Decora's performance, there was point where the emotion was over flowing and the fourth wall was knocked down. We all (us & staff) came together for the common goal to make sure that no child is left behind. Today, we had the time to visit the area where our former US President JFK was assassinated. Just being in that area gave me a sudden realization that we are truly blessed to be alive and be doing the good work that is needed in this world. Work that is needed now more than ever. Moreover, we were in Sam Houston Middle School and gave the youth an arsenal of techniques to help them better understand their talents, abilities, and to utilize them to their highest potential.   Each student has a gift. It may differ from the next person but there is a unique gift to be found.  Stay tuned for more updates... because we're just getting started!  Ashe!"

Mommas Hip Hop Kitchen breakdown by Decora

700 people show up to see over 50 amazing female artists perform and show their creative works. The stage filled with poets, mc's and DJ resonated with collective activism through art. Founder Lah Tere formerly of Rebel Diaz hosted and performed gracefully. Throughout the performance photos from graffiti artist Too Fly swam on the 50 by 50 foot screen in the background. The 4th annual mommas hip hop kitchen also included a diverse range of ages and ethnicities on stage and in the audience. It's official! Mommas Hip Hop Kitchen is one of my favorite annual events!
